Copper is not a material usually associated with the design of the garden, but it has been used here as an ever-changing ‘living’ surface - just as plants change over time, so will the copper. As you enter the garden, the eye is immediately drawn to the reflections being cast on the ground and surrounding walls. Light plays a vital role in the design, projecting

sunlight throughout the garden. Monet suggested that an outdoor scene changed every seven minutes due to the effect of light. The copper outdoor room accentuates this effect. Minute by minute the reflected light changes.  Dramatic colours are particularly apparent during dawn and dusk.  

The sunken area provides a space for social activity and creates a sunny, sheltered aspect in which a unique micro-climate can develop. The planting provides year-round architectural interest and adds height and depth to the design. The scented plants on the upper deck, include Rosemary to promote relaxation and create an atmosphere of serenity

where you can unwind and reflect.

The sculpture provides a natural form complimentary to the curved sun lounger and in contrast to the crisp geometric lines of the garden.
